  • The style of the walls of a coffee shop

    • If the style that you choose for the coffee shop is nostalgic then to handle the walls you should represent the feeling of pre 19th century.  Maybe you can choose red brick, even break the red brick, or wipe cement on the red brick.  No matter how you do it, the point is to keep the feeling of old and classic.

There are new techniques of expression for coffee shops’ design nowadays.  To merge modern and classical together; for example on the main walls you can use rich red colors or red brick board to display the feeling of deep calm.  Meanwhile, use the modern stainless steel strips on the ground as railing along counters and around the main coffee bar.  Let the people who are drinking coffee become addicted to the warm atmosphere and have the experience of the past and modern life in the same place and time.  The integration of these two feelings will be accepted by the consumer groups of today.

For example there are always large paintings on the walls of old churches strongly transmitting the religious message of the surroundings.  This lets the believer who is worshipping to become a part of the holy sanctuary’s atmosphere in a short time.  The design of the coffee shops wall can also be like this.  The large murals on the wall can stimulate and attract the customers and let them become addicted to their inner dreams as they are drinking coffee.  Of course the point is you must choose the right kind of painting style that is coordinated with the environment.  If you paint murals which are improper or hang a painting inappropriately this will lead to the opposite effect.  Therefore, you must be careful.

  • The matching colors of the coffee shop’s walls

    • It is very important to control the matching colors and the atmosphere of the coffee shop well.  Besides our own style colors, we also need to satisfy the customers needs and preferences.  We can’t blindly match the colors according to our preferences, otherwise it will become non descript and pieced together, then we will lose the character of this coffee shop.  Now we can see someone who spent lots of money dressing up, but just looks like a rich man with no class and we only have one word to express our feelings of these people: vulgar.  Therefore, the color matching scheme is the key element to the success of the coffee shop’s decorations and atmosphere.

We suggest for the indoor walls of the coffee shop it’s better to use the classic rust red and cream parchment color and for the other walled areas we can use grass green or medium grey.  Of course on the walls of special areas we can use part of a fashionable orange color.  We also suggest using grayish black or black for the border of the walls and ceiling and the color of the ceiling including the vents and pipes on the ceiling.  Of course none of the walls in the coffee shop should be painted white.

The following are seven requirements for the paint or paintings of the walls in the coffee shop:
      1. Before we draw the design on the walls, we should first mix the colors with emulsion paint for the first coat on the walls.  Then use arlamol pigment to paint the murals which will help in making the paint stay vibrant for a long time.  For the border of the murals you can paint a black line or use rope as a decoration.
      2. If you wish to divide the wall into two parts around waist height then we suggest making the line 90cm from the ground and the line can be made of 1cm wide stainless steel or wood.
      3. Above the 3m tall murals you can use green or grayish black paint and the width of this area should be 10cm.  Above this area you should use grayish black eco emulsion paint.
      4. The height of the baseboards on the walls should be 12-15cm tall and you can use grayish black veneer board as the material for the baseboards.  If the electric wires need to pass through, then you can widen the thickness of the baseboards to hide the wires or they might be exposed.
      5. All the switches or sockets on the walls must be painted the same color as the walls and of course you can also use black panels for this.

      6. For the walls of the main coffee service area you should use 0.6 cm thick ABP red brick board which is imported from America.  The size of each red brick board is 122cm wide by 244cm high.  This kind of red brick board can not only be used in the main coffee service area but can be extended to both sides of the walls.  In this way you can strengthen the impressive vision of the coffee operation counter.  You can use intermittent irregularly shaped or curved red brick board to finish up the walls.

  • The decorating of the indoor pillars of the coffee shop

    • The best design for the coffee shop will combine the indoor pillars with other elements of the design to achieve the goal of hiding the pillars.  However, if the appearance of the pillars are unavoidable we suggest following this path to turn a negative into a positive.  That means let the pillars become the main characteristic and focus of the coffee shop.  Therefore, the pillars must light the surroundings, be noticeable and be multi purposed as it can serve as an advertising tool.

In addition we can cover this pillar with cherry wood board, and then 75 cm from the ground we have created a layered wave shaped design.  On top of the pillar we have made a cloud shaped ceiling unit.  After combining this with the lights, the effect is a unique and pleasant feeling.

  • The requirements of the remaining walls in the coffee shop

    • On the walls of the coffee shop, if you wanted to hang any picture or paste a poster we must pay attention to one point, which is you must put the central point of the picture at eye level.  Seeing as the height of Asians’ eyes are roughly 150cm, so that means any pictures centre point should be at this height.  Maintaining this principle and controlling the neat line well will result in walls of the coffee shop appearing reasonable and with character.

Based on this the paintings that we provide to hang on the walls of the coffee shop include large scale paintings, the Coffee Guide, the stereograph which has the effect of shadows in it, the caffeine content sign, and an announcement board.  Here are a few hanging requirements for these pieces:
      1. The requirements for hanging large scale paintings on the wall: the size of every large scale painting we provide is 120cm high and 120cm wide.  Because these paintings are bigger, the distance from the bottom of the painting to the ground is 90cm.  This means the centre point of this painting should be at eye level.  The space between every painting must not be more than 40 cm wide.
      2. The Coffee Guide: The size is 120 cm wide and 80 cm high.  When you hang this board the bottom should be 130 cm from the ground and after you have finished hanging the board the height should be the same as the top of the door (210 cm high).  This way the customers can clearly see this menu from far away.
      3. The stereograph with shadowing: There are three different kinds of stereographs which include the logo, a coffee barista, and a coffee cup.  The width of these pieces is 40 cm and they are 60 cm high which should be 150 cm from the ground.
      4. Caffeine content sign:  This sign is 120 cm wide and 80 cm high.  When you hang this sign the bottom is 130 cm away from the ground.
      5. The announcement board: This board is 90 cm wide and 120 cm high.  When you hang this sign the bottom should be 90 cm away from the ground.  In this way the customers can see the information easily and therefore it can also serve as a message board for the customers.
      6. Additional requirements: There are additional requirement for pasting posters on the windows and walls of the coffee shop.  The posters that we provide are all the same size, which is 84 cm high and 57 cm wide.  If you put a poster on the window you need to be sure to hang two posters in one spot, one facing outside and one facing the inside of the coffee shop.  This will prevent anyone from seeing the tape that you are using to hang the posters.  If you want to post the posters on the wall then you can use double sided tape.  The height of the posters centre point should be at the customers’ eye level.  Basically the bottom of the poster should be 100-110 cm from the ground.
      7. If your coffee shop has higher ceilings then we suggest using horizontal wooden bars above the borders of the painted walls.  In this way you can create the feeling of getting back to the past while adding a classic atmosphere to the coffee shop.
