The floor design of the coffee shop
Most coffee shops represent a nostalgic atmosphere, so it’s extremely important when you’re choosing and matching the colors for the walls, floor and ceiling. The floor design of SPR Coffee adopts yellowish brown tiles for the main color. Around the main service counter, public areas and operation zone we use dark red tiles. The size of each tile is 30 cm2 and between the two main tile colors we just mentioned, we use a 1cm wide hollow stainless steel bar embedded into the ground which is a curved line used to separate the colors and to guide the customer to the main counter.
To emphasize the affection of the floor design at the entrance of the shop you can cut a piece from a tile and fill it in with a different colored tile. In this way you can create a route for people to follow and also achieve a variation in the lay out of the tiles. That means that cutting 15 cm from the sides of the tile creating a triangle can achieve a nice design.
Of course we can also dig a round hole in the ground, set up lights and write words or draw designs that you wish to express on the bottom. This can be a great and unique design. If you come to the boutique area in SPR Headquarters in China, you will see three holes in the ground with words inside. It’s very interesting. If the coffee shop is open at the airport, department store, or office building and you can’t damage the floor, then what should you do? We suggest that you lay carpet to decorate remembering that properly handling the ends of the carpet is very important. It can’t be ignored. If you want to show more of the floor, then you can also write words, curve characters or draw on the tiles. These are very good creative designs.

Decorating the floor of the coffee shop
-
Based on the reasons above, when we decorate the floor of the coffee shop we have exact construction requirements:
For the materials: The main material for the floor of the coffee shop is a non slip tile that imitates an ancient style. It is red and yellow and the size is 30 cm2. SPR Coffee will provide the necessary amount for the franchise store, and if the amount is not enough then you can buy the same style of tile from the market.
When laying the tiles: When laying the tiles we suggest using the central point of the main door for the datum line. You should begin to lay the tiles 15cm from the left and right of this line. The reason why we do this is because this is how tiles are traditionally laid out and it has proven to be successful.
When embedding materials into the tiles: You must use a professional saw to cut a 1 cm wide curved line into the tiles which will connect the red and yellow tiles of the floor of the coffee shop. A stainless steel bar can then be embedded into this space. The tiles around the main counter area can also be cut 15 cm then you can embed other colors of tiles to strengthen the variation of the floor in this area. If you omit this step and take a shortcut by piecing together these two kinds of tiles that will hugely diminish the beauty of the floor.
Floor lighting: If you can add lighting to the floor, no matter whether it is a triangle floor light or a rectangle floor light, they are both great designs. Doing this will make the atmosphere of the coffee shop appear more bustling and can serve as a directional arrow, too. During construction you must dig 10 cm deep into the ground to save a place for the power supply cord which will hide inside. The triangle floor light that SPR provides is 60 cm long for the base and 30 cm for the sides. For the rectangle floor light you can adjust the length according to the individual situation.
Raised levels: If the design of the floor has raised levels or additions we suggest adapting a structure with a wooden beam. On the beam you need to lay 2 cm thick core board, then lay the carpet remembering to pay attention to the ends of the carpet. If you want to lay tile on the core board then you need to lay a plastic pad first, and then paste the tiles on top. This can reduce the probability of being damaged in the future. If the floor has a raised glass design you must use 6m of plastic insulation which can be painted black and is used for the base of the design. Next you should set up the lights and fill the design with coffee beans, then put 1.2 cm thick temporary glass on the top.
Leave spaces for outlets: The parts of the coffee shop floor with lighting need to have power cords and sockets allocated to them in advance. Of course, for the convenience of future activities in the coffee shop or for customers to read you can also set up outlets and internet ports at the seating areas.

The ceiling design and decoration
The coffee shop has great scenery, which generally includes the main service area, seating areas, walls, floor, and restrooms. But not many people notice what is happening on the ceiling. Why is that?
Because the main point of the design of the coffee shop is to focus people’s attention on the 3m of space from the floor to the ceiling. We should fully utilize the reputation and characteristics of the coffee shop in the 3 m range from the floor to the ceiling. We all know the average eye level is around 1.5 m and adding 1.5 m to the ceiling is the limit of the coffee shop’s design (highest point) and 1.5 m below eye level is the floor of the coffee shop (lowest point). Therefore, from the floor to 3 m high is the focus of the coffee shop design. This area includes the unique character and variations of the floor tiles, the warmth and atmosphere creating qualities of the colors of the walls, and the skillful and appropriate placement of the levels. Once you know the concepts we have discussed well then you won’t lose your way when designing the coffee shop and won’t unnecessarily waste money.
Based on these reasons we don’t pay too much attention to the walls and ceilings above 3 m, you only need to use the right color. Therefore, in the coffee shop you don’t need a ceiling. Then you will say the top of the coffee shop is too ugly! It has electric wires, air conditioners, water and sewer pipes as well as disorganized random items. How can you not create a ceiling to hide all of this? The truth is this is a concept problem and we have adapted the following ways to handle all the issues 3 m and above. We have won people’s approval and have received good comments through painting the wall above the 3 m point, the top, and all the pipes and equipment the same color. The color should be grayish-black eco friendly emulsion paint (80% black). Secondly, hang ceiling units 2.6 m from the ground above the main service area and these units can be in different shapes including coffee bean, round, and long. These are fitted with spotlights and fluorescent lights. Then you have completed the construction of the ceiling of the coffee shop.
